Walking in Vegas

Here are a few photos of the hotel we're staying at next week, I found them online. Anyone who watches poker on ESPN knows the Rio is famous for hosting the big WSOP tournament every year. I've been online all morning trying to find a website giving me the walking distances around Las Vegas. Our hotel is one of the few big ones not right on The Strip, but we would like to walk around Vegas as much as possible while we are there. We will have a rental car, but the traffic in Vegas is awful, at least it was the last time I was there. And walking The Strip is a lot of fun, especially at night with all the blinking neon everywhere. But I've also read that walking in Las Vegas is very deceptive- you think you are just walking down to the next hotel but it ends up taking a half hour because the hotels are SO enormous they use up a lot of real estate. We are taking our GPS with us, so I suppose we can just look up distances once we get out there. The only one I've found so far of any interest, is the distance from our hotel to the fountains at the Bellagio, a long 1.2 miles away, and it's the nearest hotel! I don't know that we can walk from one end of The Strip to the other, at least all not in one day. But we plan to incorporate as much exercise into our vacation as possible, and walking from casino to casino seems the most logical, and most fun way to do it!
